LEGO® Technic™ McLaren MCL39 F1® Car (42228): Your Garage Just Got a Pole Position
Start your engines figuratively, because the V6 in this one is made of plastic. The LEGO Technic McLaren MCL39 is a 1:8 scale replica of the 2025 McLaren F1® car, and it’s built for adults who think a challenge is a feature, not a bug.

If McLaren MCL39 could talk, what would it say?
Hi, I’m the chassis. The thing you never think about while two grown men fight over who’s the main character.
Born in February 2025, shiny papaya orange, carbon fiber everywhere. Think limited-edition collector’s figure, except someone asked it to hit 200 mph without scratching the paint.
Level 1: Lando won the rainy opener in Melbourne, then Oscar went on a speed-run streak: China, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Miami. I started to think this was easy.
Co-op mode: Two drivers, one garage, and the “Papaya Rules”: race hard, but don’t turn me into loose bricks. Then Lando clipped Oscar in Canada. Friendly fire, classic.
Mid-game: Summer was a pile of wins and 1-2 finishes. We locked up the Constructors’ title in Singapore with six races to spare. Trophy and a nap.
The glitch: In Las Vegas, the FIA found my skid plank too worn down and disqualified both cars. It’s like beating the level and the game deleting your save over one hidden stat.
Final boss: Abu Dhabi. Max came charging back, but Lando finished third and won the title by two points. Oscar, who led for most of the year, ended up third.
Final stats: 14 wins, 833 points, one Constructors’ title, one Drivers’ title. Ten out of ten, would carry two rivals again.
Now I live in a display case, between the Millennium Falcon and a mint-in-box action figure. I belong there.
Bring the 2025 FIA Formula 1® Constructors’ Championship winning car model to your collection! Relive the excitement of F1® racing with the recreation of the 2025 season McLaren MCL39 F1 car.

At 1,675 pieces, this isn’t a quick Sunday-afternoon build. You’ll put together the steering, suspension, gearbox and differential piece by piece, which means you’ll know exactly what’s going on under the bodywork. No pit crew required, but it’s a nice father-son project! These memories will stay with you forever!
What makes it worth the build:
Working DRS. Flip the rear wing open and pretend you’re setting up a pass down the main straight.

Removable engine cover. Pop it off to show off the V6 engine, because the best part of an F1 car is the part you’re not supposed to see.
Real mechanical details. Steering, suspension, gearbox and differential all come together as you build, so it’s as satisfying to assemble as it is to look at.
“Real” here is not a figure of speech or a gimmick; you’ll see the engine pistons going up and down as the engine rotates, gearbox, differential, and steering in action!
The suspension works and follows the same configuration as the real car: pullrod at the front and pushrod at the rear. You’ll understand and enjoy how a real F1 car’s suspension works!

The LEGO Builder app. Zoom, rotate, follow the 3D instructions, and save your progress. Handy when you’ve been staring at gray pieces for three hours.
When it’s done, it makes a seriously good display piece. Put it on a shelf, call it your victory lap, and accept the compliments. It’s also a great gift for the motorsport fan in your life (or for yourself, we won’t tell).

And if one Technic car isn’t enough, there’s a whole lineup of LEGO Technic vehicle sets for adults, each sold separately, so you can build out the dream garage you’ve been planning since you were a kid.
